KAS Senior Trip 2026: An Unforgettable Outdoor Learning Experience in Taitung

Planning a senior trip in Taiwan that combines adventure, cultural experiences, and meaningful time together? This May, Imagine Taiwan had the pleasure of welcoming the Grade 12 students from Kaohsiung American School (KAS) to Taitung for their 2026 Senior Trip.

This three-day senior trip was designed to celebrate the end of high school while giving students an opportunity to step outside the classroom, experience Taiwan’s east coast, and create lasting memories with their classmates before beginning the next chapter of their lives.

At Imagine Taiwan, we believe the best school trips in Taiwan combine adventure with meaningful experiences. Our programs give students opportunities to challenge themselves, connect with nature and local communities, and strengthen friendships through experiential learning.

Surfing on Taiwan's East Coast

The Senior Trip began with one of Taitung’s signature outdoor activities: surfing. For many of the students, this was their first time standing on a surfboard. With guidance from experienced instructors, they learned the fundamentals of surfing while enjoying the waves and beautiful scenery of Taiwan’s east coast. Learning a new skill together created plenty of laughter, encouragement, and opportunities for students to support one another. For a senior trip, these shared challenges can become some of the memories students remember most after graduation.

Exploring Taitung's Indigenous Culture

A key part of this senior trip in Taitung was experiencing the region’s unique cultural heritage.

Students participated in a coconut workshop, learning about the many traditional and practical uses of one of the Pacific’s most versatile plants. They also visited Dulan Tribe, where they had the opportunity to learn more about Indigenous culture, local history, and the relationship between people, land, and the ocean. These experiences helped students explore Taiwan beyond the classroom and gain a deeper appreciation for the cultural diversity of the east coast.

Beach Survival 101

The adventure continued with our Beach Survival 101 program. Working together in teams, students faced practical outdoor challenges that required communication, problem-solving, leadership, and resilience.

Rather than simply being taught these skills, students had to put them into practice themselves. This type of experiential learning is at the heart of our school trip programs. Students learn by doing, making decisions, adapting to challenges, and supporting the people around them.

Bonfires, Shared Meals and Time Together

Some of the most memorable parts of a Senior Trip happen after the day’s activities are finished. In the evening, students gathered around a beach bonfire, sharing stories and enjoying time together under the Taitung sky.

They also enjoyed our signature house dinners, with everyone sitting down together for family-style meals. Sharing food around the same table creates a relaxed environment for conversation, laughter, and connection—especially valuable during a busy school trip.

These quieter moments give students the chance to simply enjoy being together as a graduating class.

Why Choose Taitung for a Senior Trip?

Taitung offers an ideal setting for a senior trip in Taiwan. With mountains, rivers, forests, Indigenous communities, and the Pacific Ocean all within reach, students can experience a wide range of outdoor and cultural activities in just a few days. Instead of simply sightseeing, students can learn through surfing, outdoor challenges, cultural workshops, and shared experiences.

For graduating students, a senior trip is about more than visiting a new destination. It is an opportunity to celebrate how far they have come, strengthen friendships, and create memories before everyone goes their separate ways.
